Safety: It's Our Choice
At Kanawha Stone Company, we believe that safety is a culture, not a regulation. We accept the responsibility of not compromising an employee's safety and health. Through the values of our guiding principles, we strive to return our employees, clients, and visitors safely to their families every day.
Many factors contribute to excellent safety performance and a strong safety culture. Kanawha Stone believes in taking the necessary steps when planning for project execution to ensure that all factors related to achieving optimal safety performance are identified, planned, communicated, and executed.
2015 Safety Poster Conest Winners
Safety is always a top priority for every construction site, and to emphasize Kanawha Stone’s commitment to safety, children and grandchildren of employees were recently invited to participate in a poster contest. Budding artists were provided with poster board and asked to demonstrate how to stay safe while at work, home or play. Winners were chosen based on how well they conveyed the safety theme, color, composition and neatness, and judges factored in the age of each artist. The overall winner was seven-year-old Lana Toscano, granddaughter of Mike Pyles, PE. Lana won a bicycle and helmet for her “Stop, Look, Listen” poster. Connor Gray, four-year-old son of Shawn Gray, earned a “Best of Show” award and Toys-R-Us gift card for his drawing of a cement truck with safety cones.
