Job Description
- Plan and perform safety checks (always plan safety first and then production second!);
- Mastery of Project Engineer role;
- Take job to budget;
- Prepare budget books for Superintendent – cost report, bid proposal, specs, drawings, etc.;
- Work with PMA to get subcontracts and purchase agreements for materials prepared;
- Develop relationships with Owner, Engineer, and vendors;
- Prepare baseline schedule based on bid/budget;
- Prepare & submit pre-construction submittals as per the contract and specs (i.e. blasting, SPCC, GWPPP;
- Maintain 6-week look ahead schedule and communicate with vendors on pick up/delivery and scheduling; communicate with subcontractors to ensure adherence to schedule;
- Thorough knowledge of the plans, specifications, and contract;
- Assist the Project team in operation planning, scheduling, problem solving and financial management;
- Builds rapport with owner and owner’s consultants; ongoing management of these relationships;
- Provide technical support for construction effort including construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of design conflicts; constructability reviews, etc.
- Develop, implement and administer Company Project Administration/Engineering procedures and maintain Project Documentation.
- Weekly run of TRU UP for Heavy Job;
- Manage any changes – document and prepare change order requests;
- Approve invoices in C.I. module of View Point;
- Monthly preparation of pay estimates to be submitted on the date specified in the contract;
- Monthly review of pending changes and prepare change orders for any T&M or extra work that has been done that month to be included in pay estimate;
- Monthly update of project schedule;
- Monthly rental equipment adjustment;
- Monthly review of subcontractor prices for price adjustments;
- Monthly preparation of Projection for use in WIP reporting;
- Represent the Company, project and/or department during A/E, client and project management meetings;
- Monthly review and compare of survey flights (Mass Excavation);
- Prepare progressive invoices for each Energy job;
- Project close out duties:
- Audit project and prepare final quantities;
- Prepare final pay estimates;
- Prepare close out submittals per the contract and specifications;
- Communicate with subcontractors on job completion and scheduling their demobilization/billings;
- Train Project Engineer;
- Weekly review and approve time cards (including checking quantities, equipment, pay classes, per diem, and cost codes are correct);
- Weekly update of quantities, report to upper management and client (if requested);
- Recognize problems on a job, apply extra time/effort & notify upper management;
- Additional duties as assigned and suggests revisions and additions to these competencies;
